Weekend Fun

Well, I survived my first week back at work in 2014 and I was very excited to see Friday roll around so our little family could spend some time together. I had grown so accustomed to being there when the babies woke up from naps, or played in the living room, or ate a snack- all the little things I missed this week. This weekend was a much appreciated time of rest and renewal.

Friday night Uncle Tanner came out to spend some time with Harper and Jack. The kids had a fun time playing with Tanner and Harper, who had once been leery of him, spent most of the time trying to climb in Tanner's lap. We took Tanner to dinner at Chuy's and all got our Mexican food fix; even the kids chowed down on some fajita meat and tortillas. Tony, Tanner, and I also got to hang out after the kids went to bed, and it was good to catch up. We can't wait to see you again soon, Tan!

Saturday morning we went to the gym, as usual, but this Saturday the women's weightlifting class at our gym had a breakfast outing. I went and took Harper and Jack who were both so fabulous at breakfast that I was amazed. They enjoyed all the activity and waving to everyone. They also really enjoyed the scrambled eggs and pancake breakfast. In fact, they were so good at breakfast on Saturday, that Tony and I took them out again for breakfast on Sunday morning too!

We are still really diggin' the wagon that Santa brought the kids for Christmas and we were lucky enough to be able to fit in two wagon rides this weekend. Saturday the weather was beautiful and the kids were so excited to be able to get out and experience the blue sky; Abby was also very excited to be able to frolic around in the spring- like weather.
The other "big thing" the kids have been interested in this weekend is a broken down diaper box. I know that sounds silly, but the kids have had a great time today crawling back and forth through the "tunnel". Harper was the first to discover the diaper box and she crawled through it about 5-6 times before she caught Jack's attention and he zoomed over. Once Jack got the hang of it, he spent the rest of the night squealing and going back and forth and round and round the chair to get through the tunnel. I suppose the diaper box will be staying in the living room a little while longer.

On a different note, we did have an eating set back tonight that derailed our dinner. Tony and I are going to the drawing board to come up with some type of plan for moving the kids from bottles to "real food". They only have 2 teeth each, so we're fearful of giving them anything that requires lots of chewing and we are running into "just feed them what you eat", but when we eat Whataburger for dinner, that's not an option (as evidenced by the choking tonight). So, hopefully next week will be better eating for our little ones. Please say a prayer that this minor hiccup doesn't start any aversion reactions and we have two kids who catch on to this whole eating thing sooner rather than later. Who knew eating could be such an ordeal?

Here are some more quick shots from this weekend- enjoy!
