Jack’s first long term out of town
guests arrived today to see him. Mimi, Papa and Bailey, the puppy, arrived this
afternoon. They’re here on Spring Break and we look forward to the adventures
we will encounter during their visit.
Tony’s mom and I decided that we would
venture to the hospital to see Harper this afternoon and give her a bath- she
loves her “spa days”. When we went got to Harper’s room, we found a little girl
who was wide-awake and ready to see us. She fussed around while we were getting
the tub ready and getting her ready, but was so calm and alert when we started
her bath. We give both the kids “swaddle baths”- they’re put in their tub with
a blanket around them, and we get the blanket good and wet to help keep the
kids warm as they get bathed; to get clean, we unwrap and clean each arm, leg,
etc. and then rinse and cover them back up. Harper really enjoys the water and
looked around while Mimi and I sang to her and got her all nice and clean.
After her bath, I thought for sure Harper would be tuckered out and might not
want to eat her bottle- I was wrong. Harper’s nurse taught us how to mix her
new formula and thicken it with rice cereal and then our girl took all of her
bottle, snuggled with me, snuggled with her Mimi, and was sitting in her bouncy
seat when we left. It was wonderful to see a baby who wasn’t afraid to eat and
was happy and content when I left. Tony went to visit Harper for dinner, and
she took a bottle for him as well. In fact, she completed all of her bottles
during the day shift today. I can’t wait
to see how her little personality develops now that we have a happy girl on our
hands.
