Tony and I walked into the
NICU this morning to a flurry of activity- our pod was overrun with people in
surgical masks and drapes, large machines and unfamiliar faces. All of the
activity was centered on a bed that we knew very well Jack’s bed. Tony and I
exchanged worried glances as my heart skipped a beat; we both grabbed drapes
and were making a beeline to find out what was going on with our boy, when a
nurse intercepted us and explained that Jack had been moved. A baby who was
just born today now occupies Jack’s old spot, and Jack got a room upgrade.
Jack’s new bed spot comes
with a new neighbor- his little sister, Harper. We are very pleased that thanks
to a great nurse, Ale, the kids are now neighbors in a room with a wall that
pushes back a little bit so the twins will have a suite, if you will. Tony and
I will be able to each hold a baby and be in the same room to carry on a
conversation (something impossible when the twins were across the pod from one
another). Tony and I are excited they’re closer and they were stable enough to
move from spot to spot without any problems. In fact, Tony even got some action
shots of Harper on the move to her new spot next to Jack (oh, and she has a
room with a view too- the only window in her pod). The kids seem to be doing
well with the adjustment and continue to grow!
