Friday afternoon when I got home from work, the kids and I played in the master bedroom while I sorted laundry and boxed up a few things to send to Goodwill. Jack and Harper had some toys in our room, but they were both much happier making as much noise as possible banging on an empty shoebox and waving a paper bag. Jack has been working on his crawling and he got himself up on all fours, but couldn't quite get moving forward without ending up on his tummy. Friday night Tony and I packed up the kiddos and headed to a quick dinner and then came home to catch up on our DVR; before we could finish our 1 hour show, I was alseep and I am happy to report I got 8 hours of sleep Friday night- wonderous.
Saturday morning, we awoke to little voices talking and giggling. Tony looked on the monitor to find this sweet sight- I hope this is the first of many conversations to come for these little ones. Tony and I both went to the gym (trading off times) and then ran errands with the kiddos. We went to our friends' house for dinner and Jack practiced his crawling at the Sterlings. He uses a combo of rolling, scooting, and now backwards crawling to get where he'd like to go. He scooted backwards at their house until he ran into the couch- I think it surprised him that he made it that far. He's also gotten really good at going from his tummy to a sitting position.
Sunday morning we decided to get up and head to church. We're currently on the hunt for a church home and got the kiddos dressed so we could try out a worship service. Here's a picture of Miss Harper in her skirt overalls- too cute. When we got home from church, we installed our newest addition to the living room- the heavy duty baby gate. This gate became necessary when Harper took on the stairs...and won. As you can see, she is not too happy about the new gate, but it's so nice to be able to wash bottles and not look over your shoulder every few seconds to see if Harper is on the stairs. After the gate went up, we set to work lowering the matress in Jack's bed. While Tony and I worked, the kiddos both fell asleep in Harper's bed. Harper curled up with Jack's giraffe (it normally hangs from the crib rail) and the three of them looked so peaceful.
As I type, the kids are in their own beds fast asleep, and Tony and I are watching the Cowboys, hopefully, pull off a win. Our weekend at home was nice and restful, here's hoping our week will be pleasant and restful as well.
