Discoveries of 15 Month Olds

Our house has been crazy the past few days with two little explorers who are getting into everything and are pushing the boundaries all around them. Here are some of the things they've been up to...

They tried some new ways of eating. Harper decided to take the entire floret of broccoli (as opposed to the pieces we had cut up for her); turns out she liked it! The kids also tried their new bowls for the first time. Harper was more into the bowl; Jack immediately dumped out the food and wanted to play with the bowl.

We've also been taking advantage of the beautiful weather this week and we've gone on quite a few walks

Which prompted Jack to push Harper around in the dining room and go for their own walk.

They've also learned how to climb the stairs and will jet straight to the landing if given the opportunity.

The bunnies have been invading our backyard and the kids are helping Abby search for those cute little pests...Abby isn't too thrilled with her hunting partners.

The big discovery has been in the living room where the kids are learning how to climb on the furniture, and they're  moving the boxes that once kept them out of the fireplace...

Here's a shot of our strong man doing a pull-up to get to his Wub-a-nub (pacifier with a stuffed animal attached to it).

And here's a shot of crazy Harper showing off her Audrey Hepburn look

In addition to all the new discoveries, the kiddos also had a doctor's appointment today. They went in for their 15 month check up and both looked great. We had two high points of the appointment, one was when the doctor had us fill out a developmental survey and she looked it over and said that the kids seems to be right on track with their learning (praise God); the second high point was when we were discussing Harper's eating (always a topic of conversation at the doctor's office), and Tony said, "I'm just waiting for a doctor to tell us that she's fine." To which the doctor looked at Tony and replied, "Harper is fine." She said there is nothing wrong with Harper or her eating and that she's growing and is still on her growth curve. The doctor told us to keep doing what we're doing with Harper and Jack.

So, here are the breakdowns for the kiddos:

Harper (preemie growth chart)
-Weight: 16 lbs. 12 oz. 7%
-Height: 29 inches 31%
-Head Circumference: 18.5 inches 90%

Jack (normal growth chart)
-Weight 20 lbs. 12 oz. 31%
-Height: 30.5 inches 61%
-Head Circumference- 19 inches 93%

The other concerns we addressed were Harper's head size (it has now leveled off  in terms of growth) and shape. The doctor said you can tell that her head is not 100% symmetrical, but she didn't think it was a medical problem (no jaw problems, no chronic ear infections). She said that she could give us info for the helmet specialist and we could go and get some information- no pressure. We're still on the fence about it; I'm worried they'll make us feel so guilty that we'll end up with a helmet for sure. I just don't want Harper to have problems down the road because of this- what should we do? I wish we knew the right answer.

Jackman didn't have other concerns that we looked at. We did talk about his teeth, or lack thereof, and the doctor said that we should just be on the lookout for more teeth in the next few months and keep brushing the two that we see.

Overall, the visit went very well and there were only a few tears after they got their shots. Here's a picture of our two 15 month olds sitting at the doctor's office; I can't believe how both big and little they look.
We are thankful for the great report and are now ready to have fun this weekend!
